Dear Great-Grandchildren: Today I want to talk to you about another bit of mystic knowledge from long ago. Please know that the past is not just the past; it is very important. It is your physical beginning, your background, your foundation, and your ancestry, and will always remain a part of you. Some of your actions, ideas, and thoughts have not always been truthful, pure, devoted, lovely, or lofty -- they may have even been ugly or hurtful to others at times. Keep a watchful eye on your thoughts and actions. There is an age-old saying, and I quote, "As I think, so will I be, because my actions will become the outward expression of my thinking. Let me therefore think aright." Hopefully, through the years you will be able to improve on the past. This particular bit of the mystic knowledge from the past was especially fascinating to me. We are told by the teachers of antiquity that the formation of the Universe out of Chaos was brought about by the word of creation....by "SOUND". One of the secrets of sound is that every object and every person has a keynote - the sum of their vibrations responds to one particular note of the musical scale. If a person's note is sounded gently and melodiously, it has a healing and constructive influence. If it is sounded in a loud, harsh, continuous manner, it has a destructive influence and can make the person ill or unhappy. If you can discover the note belonging even to a particular object, such as glass, and sound it very loudly into the glass for a little while, the sound will shatter the glass into pieces. There is even an incident mentioned in the Bible. It is written that the walls of Jericho fell because of the use of this law. The keynote of the walls was purposely sounded by the continuous noise of the trumpet under the instructions of someone who understood how to utilize this technique. The sounds by which we are surrounded every day are mostly harsh, monotonous and noisy. Have you noticed that in any average group of people or meeting, everyone shouts and talks at once? Even some singing and music can hurt our ears, grating beyond words. Trains, cars, buses, all add their quota to the hideous noises we have to endure. We must listen to sounds that are offensive to our nervous systems. One way to counteract these effects would be by healing the damaged nerve centers with complete silence for a short period every day. If you can discover your personal keynote and play it repeatedly, gently, it could revive you as if by magic. Anyone who wants to get the very best out of life should shun inharmonious noises and useless chatter. They should feed their spirits and nerves with beautiful music; they should sing often, aiming at rhythm and resonance rather than loud, high notes. We should watch and guard our words, remembering that in speaking we are building definite forms, whether for good or for evil influences. Lastly, it should be remembered, as all the Wise Ones were aware, the greatest inspiration and wisdom humanity has known came during periods of complete and profound silence. Mahatma Ghandi said, "There comes a time in the life of every man when all he has is what he is." When this time comes, we tend to earnestly desire to find an answer to why we were born, where we are going, and if there is any rhyme or reason, any justice in life, or anything to hope for or work for. When someone arrives at this stage in life, it marks a very important crisis in development. It is as if we have been asleep most of our lives, and now comes the awakening. It is at this moment that we change from a puppet to an individual and joins the honored company of The Seekers. Are you a Seeker? This is the real beginning of acquiring ancient secret knowledge which hopefully will be your path and your journey to wisdom. Until later, Your Great-Grandmother Marilyn

Hello, again, Great-Grandchildren: Today I want to talk to you about an Ancient Mystery. Once upon another time, long, long ago, lived a renowned philosopher named Plato who wrote his startling account of a sunken continent, Atlantis, of which history officially has no information. Long since lost in antiquity, this was a land and a people of an ancient civilization covering 200,000 years - a period many times greater than our 6,000 years of recorded history to date. No concrete proof has yet been discovered, so they say, although traditions and circumstantial evidences are abundant. At this time, many stories passed down through the ages are considered legends. Another one is the Great Flood told among all races of ancient peoples indicating a common origin and a widespread acceptance of the event. Plato's first recorded mention of Atlantis was written in the 5th century before Christ. He described a conversation between certain priests and Solon, who was an Athenian statesman. The priests represented Atlantis as a great island, larger than Asia Major and Libya combined, lying just beyond the Straits of Gibraltar. It had been a powerful kingdom for 9,000 years before the birth of Solon in 638 B.C. After the days of the Flood, a period of rebuilding began in Atlantis. The Atlantean scientific turn of mind, combined with their energy and aggressiveness, made possible great strides forward in mechanics, chemistry, physics and many forms of technology. In many ways, this was a superior people. In certain fields of endeavor, they were more learned and educated than any civilization since that time. After the first upheaval, electricity was discovered. It paved the way for remarkable developments in the area of electronics and appliances. Atomic power from uranium was understood and used in the transportation of heavy objects. They had efficient systems for heating and lighting. Light rays were discovered and controlled including the "death ray". Liquid air, compressed air, and rubber were manufactured. Metal alloys of brass, aluminum, and uranium, unknown to us, were used in the construction of air and water craft, including the submarine. The telephone and elevator were in common use; radio and television were highly developed. All of these advances were abused for selfish purposes. In 10,700 B.C., the culture had reached the depths of moral and spiritual degradation, not in knowledge, but in practice. Human sacrifice, the use of the death ray, and sun worship were prevalent. Sun crystals were cruelly adapted as a means of coercion, torture, and punishment. A new low in morality and human dignity had been reached. The growth of these disturbing factors along with selfish personal desires made the final destruction of Atlantis all the more certain, and the impending breakup was now at hand. They tried to find ways to warn and unite the people in order to prevent it if possible. There was an endeavor to gather all the various nations of the world concerning the approaching disaster. A meeting was called with this in view. Envoys from many lands came to Atlantis to pool their wisdom in an attempt to avert the disaster, but the meeting and the campaign resulting from it were to no avail. Then came the final catastrophe. Gigantic land upheavals shook the foundations of the Earth. Great islands crumbled into the sea and were inundated. Only scattered mountain peaks remained to mark the watery graves. Some people escaped. A few stayed behind heroically to help others in the exodus to other lands. The majority were lost. By 9,500 B.C., Atlantis as a nation had vanished from the face of the Earth. Since that time so long ago, many men have debated the reality of its existence. No written records or artifacts exist from Atlantis itself, so the official story goes, but there have been found records and archeological evidence preserved from cultures derived from or influenced by Atlanteans. There has been a wealth of information from life styles, social customs, dress, writings, laws and religions. Today the debate continues with many theories proposed for the cataclysmic destruction of Atlantis - earthquake?.....volcano?....asteroid? Perhaps someday as science propels us forward in our quest to understand the past, the mystery of Atlantis will be resolved. As we develop increasingly sophisticated methods of combing the depths of our oceans, as discoveries shed new light on ancient civilizations, the whole truth of Atlantis may finally emerge from the shadows. Until that time, or until Atlantis rises from the depths of the ocean, the legend of the lost continent will continue to fascinate, intrigue and inspire artists, scientists, occultists, and thinkers. Is it a true story? Is it a legend? What do you think? Until the next time.... Your Great-Grandmother A COSMIC JUDGMENT LESSON Dear Great-Grandchildren: Today I would talk to you about judgmentalism. Of all the knowledge I would love to give you, this understanding is one of the most dear to me and one of the most vital for you. Every time we make a critical judgment about another person, we lose a part of our spirits. Before we die, we should gather together all of these parts that have been lost to take with us. Many of us at some time have made judgments about others, thought ill of them, criticized their ideas, ideals, or actions, or doubted their sincerity, integrity, or their way of life. I am reminded of my grandmother who once told me about a myth that had been passed down through the ages as "God writes this in that little black book of records". It also stated that we should always remember that the spoken word is never silenced. Be very careful what you say out loud. Words of love, concern, and peace stay in the atmosphere and float among the clouds, while ugly, angry, hateful words hang like dark, ominous clouds and inhibit life's joy to someone forever. Alas, maybe God will refer to that little black book of records when we are ready to begin a new lifetime and remember the lessons we failed to learn in the past. So --- here we go again. We should realize that the repeated lessons, though difficult, are not punishments...only needed experiences so that we can understand the one we criticized and judged so harshly. If this lesson is not taken to heart and understood, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, we may have to live it over again as it passes through the physical body with difficult health problems. This life plan is fair and very important for the success and future of our evolutionary journeys. Somehow, we must learn to be compassionate and not to judge others as we did so vehemently in the past. If we resist learning, it could cost us a long, sad lifetime and perhaps we will have to live it over, even again, in another time, place and opportunity. Always do your best to embrace the positive character traits that will help pave the path for your life journey. So - keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart. Your Great-Grandmother Marilyn MY FIRST SCHOOL GRADE Once upon another time, oh so long ago, it was September, 1929, and I was going to be 6 years old on October 20th. I thought I would be starting school. As the school term began, I was so happy and excited about it - and a few days later, so disappointed about it. The classes that year were crowded, and four of us born in October had to wait another year to start school. I can still remember their names: Martha Jane Miller, Paul Pursley, and Edgar McKain. I wonder if they are still living and if they remember my name. The next year, when we finally attended school in September, 1930, we were excited and happy again, more than ever. I loved learning and going to school every day. My first grade school teacher's name was Clara Hill, and she told me that my name was not spelled correctly. My name was Marylynn Jean, and she said it should have been spelled Marilyn Jean. She was wrong, but so it remained. My mother told me that a similar event had happened to her. She was your great-great-grandmother. She was born in Jasper, Indiana, in 1904, as Lulu Esther Dieckmann. Her school teacher changed the spelling of her name to Louise Esther and, later somehow, down through the years, it became Louise Esther Dickman....and so it remained. The next summer after the four of us completed the first grade, my mother received a notice from the State of Indiana Board of Education stating that the four students who, through no fault of their own, were refused entrance into the first grade in 1929, would now be eligible to take a special examination, provided they were "A" students. Upon receiving a passing grade, they would be allowed to skip the second grade and enter the third grade at the beginning of the school year in September, 1931, and would be awarded a certificate of honor. And so, we were required to take the test at the teacher's house during the summer. I remember being upset and really afraid that I would fail. However, we did all pass. We were all happy and relieved to be entering the third grade. Continuing through the years of my childhood, I want to tell you more about my life, especially my personal world at that time in history. The Great Depression began in the year 1929, when I was 6 years old. If you haven't studied history lessons and learned about this tragic event, you should at some time in your school life. The Great Depression was a severe, world-wide economic downfall in the decade preceding World War II. The timing varied from nation to nation, but in most countries it started in 1929 and lasted until the late 1930s or the middle of the 1940s. It was the longest, most widespread and deepest depression of the 20th century. I would like for you to know how it affected me personally, because I actually lived through those years, and I am one of the few still living now in 2013. This depression caused devastating effects the world over, especially for poor people, with much suffering, hunger, starvation, and ill health. It was hurtful in so many ways, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. At that time, Daddy had a full-time job and a part-time job, and we were not in dire need; however, many of our relatives, neighbors, and friends lived in very difficult circumstances. My mother was sympathetic, compassionate, intuitive, artistic, spiritual and understanding. She thought that everybody should help somebody. So, Mother, once a week for a very long time, made homemade bread and prepared food to last for several days for a neighbor with 7 children, who had no money to buy food. I remember one time in particular. Someone answered the door and invited us to come in. I shall never forget that visit. The room was dark and cold. There was no heat in the house. Blankets were hung over all the windows to keep out the cold air. Mother took kerosene and immediately lit an oil lamp. Daddy took bags of coal and started a fire in the small, pot-bellied stove. Mother sliced the loaves of bread and placed a plate of fresh butter on the table and served a large pot of vegetable soup. All at once, there was a lot of noise coming from someplace in the corner of the room, and 7 children tumbled out of bed. We left them there, happy and warm, not at all hungry for that day. They knew we would be back another day. In retrospect, I realize that life was certainly not easy for my parents, and they worked hard to create a good life for me and my 3 sisters. They bought a new piano, so that we could take music lessons. There was a music teacher named Mary Fisher who came to our house once a week. The music lessons cost 25 cents each -- imagine that! Mother went to town every Saturday morning to shop, looking in all the plate glass store windows for the latest, up-to-date fashions. She drew pictures of the prettiest dresses and then, at home, she made her own patterns out of newspaper. She was a good seamstress, so she was able to create the current styles for us on her own. We were the best-dressed children for miles around. Daddy owned a truck and bought a new car in 1933. Everybody seemed to think we were rich. We really weren't, but I understand now that we were quite prosperous compared to other people struggling through the Depression. All of this was possible because Daddy worked for the Ideal Pure Milk Company. His job included handling heavy cans. Once, he had an opportunity to get a better job that wasn't as physical, and Mother wanted him to take it. He tried, but the job involved tasting cream. It made him sick at his stomach, and he couldn't do it. But he did have a second job 3 nights a week, picking up the cream and delivering it to the company the next morning. During those years, I really was very happy. Mother and Grandma, whom I loved very much, planted a vegetable garden every summer and canned food for the winter. Mother was always very concerned about health and nutrition for the whole family. During childhood, we were healthy. We were not given medicines or vaccinations, and didn't go to the doctor or dentist as there was no need. There is no way to tell you how much I appreciate my mother and grandma. I was a curious child, often asking, "Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Why, why, why?" They were always patient with me. Many times, on hot summer nights, we sat out in the yard and discussed all different kinds of religions and philosophies in the world and all about life. They taught me to be moral, honest, and kind to others, and also fostered my love of learning and reading. Until another time................ Your Great-Grandmother Marilyn Dear Children: I want to tell you a little bit about my childhood and what the world was like when I was a little girl. Like you, I was born as a small bundle of energy called Marilynn Jean Galloway on October 20, 1923 - in the last century. Now, that was a long time ago, and I have been living here on Earth for 89 years. Can you even imagine that? My mother once told me that it was her intention to name me Patricia Ann. The night before I was born, she either heard it or thought it - in a faint whisper in her mind - "Marilynn Jean". It came to mind an ancient myth that her grandmother told her -- an old, old story brought down through the ages about the existence of a Guardian Angel who whispers the chosen name to the mother, even if she doesn't realize that it is being given to her. One's personal identity is very important in the eyes of God, since we are each individuals, and each of us is part of the Divine Plan. We know that this Plan was lovingly placed, just for us personally, to gain information, to live long enough to become wise, or to be born and live, no matter for how short a time, to serve some Divine Purpose. Therefore, we are responsible for fulfilling our Divine Plan and for appreciating this wonderful gift of life. Really open your eyes! Look, listen, take a minute to see that the world is full of wonder, promise and opportunity. Always spend some time appreciating all that you have now. See that your attitude is one of gratitude. Be happy and thankful for this life that you have been given. It will be the best possible way to start each day. I am a little bit sad once in a while when I realize that I wasn't really thankful for my life until I was an adult. However, I am now. I want to tell you some of the facts about life that I have learned that may seem a little bit mysterious to you. THOUGHTS ARE THINGS. Do you know that nothing can come to pass or happen for you until you think it first? So, you need to be aware of and understand the power of cheerful thinking. Do not allow ugly thoughts to stay in your mind. It is so vital to keep our thoughts clean and healthy and to never allow hate, rage, greed, or bitterness to enter and stay. Kind, good thoughts will dispel friction, worries, anxieties and disagreeable feelings toward others. The way we think can actually create a better world. There is much sorrow, misery and sickness. We need people whose lives radiate a capacity for inspiration, courage, and joy. I also want to tell you a secret that many people don't know. You may think that your thoughts are private and that nobody can know them, but they are not. Do not flatter yourself that you are known only by the words you say out loud. What you think about shows. There is a famous poet philosopher who said, "What you are speaks so loudly, I cannot hear what you say". The atmosphere around us must partake of who we really are inside. We cannot radiate anything unlike ourselves. It doesn't matter who or what you pretend to be -- if your mind is strong and healthy, you will radiate peace and harmony wherever you go. So keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart! -- To Be Continued -- Dear Children: I would love to give to you all that I have learned in this lifetime, but that is not possible. You must learn your own lessons. If I could, I would give to you an exquisite desire, an interest and a curiosity to search for the real truths concerning the secrets of the Universe. These truths are not evident on the surface of the conscious mind, but your real self knows them. You must look deep within and find your real reasons for living this life you have chosen. Other people will always try to tell you what is Truth. Please don't listen or believe. Your personal truth is what is important to you. You are a unique human being without equal in all creation. There is none other exactly like you. You are a loving thought in the Mind of God. You've been given the power and ability to use your mind to think for yourself. It is truly a gift. Please use it wisely and well. Always remember that you did not come here to be happy, to be sad, to be rich, to be poor, to be right, to be wrong, for none of these things are your purpose on Earth. You are here to grow, evolve, learn, and serve one another -- nothing else. A COSMIC BEDTIME STORY: Once upon a time, long, long ago, before we were born into these bodies, we lived on the other side of the veil, in a heaven-like world. There we sat down around a cosmic table, and we all had a little talk. We made a solemn loving pledge to help one another and promised to play a role in the coming life so that a needed lesson could be learned for our personal evolutionary journey and for those near and dear. We all then signed the heavenly contract. At that time, since we were still in spirit form, it seemed as though it would be so easy to fulfill this vow. But we now know that it becomes quite difficult once we are here on Earth. SO -- here we are on Earth -- exactly on time, on the minute, on the hour, on the day or night, the week, the month, and the year. You are born into a family as a tiny bundle of energy. After a few years, you then go to school, grow up, get married or not, have children or not, conform to society and tradition or not, grow old, and die. Is this really all there is? Did you forget to remember designing the plan for the life you had chosen and that you brought your very own path with you? The path seems to be hidden down deep in the subconscious mind; however, you never lose your own plan. It is always there, vibrating, and trying to awaken your memory of the purpose you had intended to live and fulfill. If you are wise, you will always pay attention to the still, small voice whispering in your ear. Listen, because it is the Voice of Your Soul, and it will never go away. It will keep whispering until the day comes when you can hear it clearly. -- TO BE CONTINUED -- Dear Katlyn, Mitchel, and Lexi: I am your great-grandmother on your father's side.I haven't had the pleasure of living near you or the opportunity to be involved in your lives as you grow to adulthood and probably won't this time around. We have all been together in previous lifetimes, and, although we are not physically close in this one, even so, I know you well and love you dearly. I did not know either of my great-grandmothers, and I would be absolutely fascinated and thrilled to have a letter from them telling me about themselves. I would love to know how they lived so long ago, their likes and dislikes, their religious beliefs, what they thought about health and disease. I wonder if they were happy or if their lives were full of sadness and sorrow, and whether or not they had a philosophy of life to sustain them. I wish I knew all about them - maybe a picture - since I am a part of them, and so are you. I have intended to write this for a long time, but now recent current events have reminded me that we never know how long our children will be with us. Maybe someday what I am about to tell you will be of interest to one or all of you and give you a measure of pleasure. I have many amazing and mysterious things to say....... -----TO BE CONTINUED----- |
