OK - wow, what a week. Sorry to miss so many posts. I'm getting a lot of feedback from clients regarding the Mercury Retrograde, so let's talk about it a bit. Today the Moon is in Libra and almost everybody else is in Pisces. Something they share is the tendency to be too focused on other's and their needs and neglect or abuse self in the process. Both have difficulty not losing themselves in their relationships, even if that relationship is with the Divine. This is not an easy time to keep your feet on the ground and your head on straight. The desire to escape, to drift away into a dream of beauty and peace, and not have to confront our struggles, discipline our spirits, and deal with the apparent unfairness and injustice in the world is running high. This is the time to call on a higher level of Pisces understanding and belief in your Soul and in the Souls of others....to remind ourselves that They know what They are doing with us and our experiences and that all is designed for us to have the opportunities to learn what we need to learn and grow in the ways we intended to grow during this life. Having said that, be aware that past life stuff is up all over the place and the more you can keep your spiritual perspective intact, the better. We are asked to look at the past to see how self-neglect and martyristic behaviours created challenges and obstacles for us before and consciously, deliberately and courageously choose to do something different this time. Put it all into a higher viewpoint -- become the eagle looking at your life -- and put the past into the past where it belongs with resolve, forgiveness, and love.

A slow-moving Moon stays in Cancer Thursday and Friday till about 4:00 CST. We have so much going on in the emotional realms right now. Saturn's 2-year journey through Scorpio, highlighting our need to get to the bottom of our unconscious selves; Mercury going retrograde in Pisces, taking us on a review of how we have managed our feelings of powerlessness and victimization in the past; and the Moon taking a long stroll through Cancer this week, leading us right into that review starting on Saturday. Is there a message here? I may be starting to sound like a broken record, but with what the planets are doing, do you really need me to say how important the current areas of work actually are? I have a system of looking at our feelings as "a flag on the play". I'm not much of a football fan, but I find the analogy to be really efficient for understanding the messages of the different emotions we have. I'll give you a start -- Mad, Sad, Glad, Scared and Ashamed. All the other words you use to describe your feelings need to be distilled down into one of these Big 5. Being able to be honest with ourselves about what we actually feel is where we need to begin. To me, Mad is a red flag thrown on the play of your day....Sad is a blue flag....Scared is a yellow flag....and Ashamed is a black flag. Glad needs no introduction! Our feelings need to honored, understood, and thanked. We can comprehend them and utilize their wisdom. Start here -- more to come. The Moon moves into Cancer as Wednesday morning dawns on us. I missed posting during the Gemini Moon the last couple of days - probably another testament to the effects of the coming Mercury Retrograde this weekend. People who have strong Gemini and Virgo in their charts (and remember that means more than your Sun sign) are very sensitive to the movements and antics of quicksilver Mercury. We will have a Full Moon in Virgo on the 25th - a double whammy of energy to go with the retrograde plus some strong polarity influence in there, too. Ahhh - ain't we got fun? For today and tomorrow, though, we will be in the flow of Cancer's waters. Are you wading, soaking, swimming, or perhaps drowning? The Mother and Child archetype of Cancer always brings Inner Child issues to mind....the tender, playful, unjaded part of us that needs to feel safe and secure. We are responsible for becoming the wise, loving, and nurturing parent that perhaps we did not have during our early years in this life. We are responsible as spiritual adults to love, nurture and parent this part of ourselves if we are to experience happiness. Self-love is not the easiest of lessons to learn. Begin by treasuring your capacity for being in awe of the world around you, awash with color, texture, and beauty, and open the door to your ability to trust and to love. Inner Child conference calls are now available...a series of monthly calls designed to help you know and understand your Inner Child in an environment of understanding and support. See the bottom of the Services page for more information and contact me if you wish to register. The Moon is in Taurus today and reminds me of the fine Irish boxer pictured here....really looking to mix it up a bit today. I see him strolling into a dark alley only to find the Sun romancing the boxer's girl, Venus, up ahead in the shadows. Saturn stands as lookout by the dumpster, just hoping somebody comes along and gives him an excuse to throw a few punches. It's a testy day out there emotionally, folks. We could easily end up in a free-for-all as it goes along. I don't know about any of you, but I can feel this Mercury Retrograde coming on like the sound of a freight train that precedes a tornado.....the futile attempts to get things done, retracing steps only to find it doesn't do any good, the sense of crawling frustration and increasing irritation, and so many other lovely little pieces building toward the 23rd....I'm not doing all that well at staying in Taurus' serene Buddha-like place! So I'm going to try very hard to be on top of this little stewpot of feelings today. I might just want to stay in....but if I have to go out, I'm wearing my shamrock-colored boxing gloves, just in case. How appropriate for the Moon to be in Aries for Valentine's Day. Ruled by fiery, lustful Mars, its color red, its energy initiating, assertive, and masculine. Energy that began anew on Sunday is building through this week and next, working toward the Full Moon on the 25th. It's an interesting blend to have such a self-focused, self-empowered place to stand on a day that accentuates relationship. It's a healthy blend. It puts me in mind of Kahlil Gibran's admonitions about trees standing close together yet growing individually. So it's a good day to have a look at the challenges we face to maintain our individual strength and identities in the context of our committed relationships. And then to set that aside as we allow ourselves the great luxury of deep connection, sensual fulfillment, and heartfelt love. Thanks to Mars ruling the Moon in Aries....it should be a hot time in the ol' town tonight! It's a magical Monday with the Moon in Pisces, and again we are visited by our favorite Ancient Couple, the Moon and Saturn. This time, we find them in beach chairs on the shore, sharing a glass of lavender wine. They are both taking the opportunity to catch their breath a bit, knowing that they will both go retrograde soon, Saturn on the 19th and Mercury on the 23rd. Both are in water signs, so we are scheduled for some serious emotional review and karmic cleanup. Retrogrades force us into retrospection, asking us to look at how we have done things in the past and how that worked out for us. Anything that starts with "re" is fair game during retrograde transits -- we reorganize, restructure, review, renew, rebirth, regenerate, retrace, redo....and on and on. With Saturn's intense journey through Scorpio having just begun, we will be given the chance to re-member the extremes of the past and challenged to balance them this time around. The Mercury retrograde will add in how we have martyred ourselves, sacrificed ourselves, denigrated ourselves, and imprisoned ourselves in the past so we can move on deeper into the waves of Scorpio without that self-inflicted pain. But for today, the Great Mother and Great Father are enjoying a swim with the dolphins...and drinking in a little illusion or two in preparation for the movies coming up later in the month. Do you have an understanding of Mercury Retrograde? Do you know what area of your life is coming under review? Are you aware of what the current Saturn transit is requiring of you? Here....let me help you with that! Go to the Services page to get the written report of your choice --- personalized to your natal chart. (These are individual interpretations, not generalized forms.) Life is much easier with a little more insight...... The Moon is in Sagittarius, the sign of the Archer, who is also a Centaur. Most of us were charmed over the weekend by the Superbowl Brotherhood commercial featuring a baby Clydesdale. Of all the scenes in the commercial, Sagittarius would have liked best the moment when the handler removes the halter from the horse's head. Sag loves its freedom, so much so that it convinces itself that the grass HAS to be greener on the other side. The Jupiterian love of adventure and exploration is what drives it to travel, to see for itself the lure and exotica of foreign lands. Although fanatical when unhealthy, true Sagittarian spirit holds that all roads lead to God and we are all free to choose the path that makes life sacred for us. It seems to be unfashionable these days to appreciate, enjoy, or revere the diverse beauties of a world so full of unique cultures, styles, shapes, colors, and especially religions. Sagittarius would want you to know just what a shame that is. |
