The Moon spends today in Scorpio and goes into Sagittarius for Easter Sunday. How perfectly fitting for the Christian theology of this holiday with its theme of death, resurrection, and ascension. Scorpio takes us down into the depths of the underworld, through the suffering and darkness in us that need to die and be transformed by the light. Sagittarius lifts our eyes to the heavens to look beyond the mundane, beyond the past, beyond our old selves and into the higher realms of spiritual and philosophical understanding. This process rolls away the stone of our unconsciousness and brings us out of the sleep of the dead to be reborn as a new creature, aspiring to ever greater heights of the experience of love and wisdom. The same is true for the ancient non-Christian view of spring as Ishtar and Eostre bring us the gift of the renewal and rebirth of life from the Goddess herself. From the dead and dormant states of winter to the bright and burgeoning bursts of flowers and budding trees, we emerge from the darkness and into the light of a brighter Sun. The cold in us is now warmed and we are invited to stretch and blossom with all other forms of life around us. No matter what your personal beliefs are, Easter has always come each year to teach us that everything is born, grows, thrives, declines, and dies.....only to be reborn again and again. Regardless of your religious affiliations, Jesus' story is a beautiful example of this truth. Have a beautiful, refreshing, renewing Easter weekend. And remember, you don't have to be dead to move into the light.
